Duguid to stand in Super50 final

Georgetown, Guyana – Fast rising Guyanese umpire Nigel Duguid has been appointed by the West Indies Cricket Board to stand in the final of the Regional Super50 on Saturday October 29th at the Guyana National Stadium.

The match will be broadcast live on ESPN as Trinidad and Tobago will challenge the winner of the Jamaica v Sagicor HPC game for the Clive Lloyd Trophy.

Duguid will be partnered by Barbadian umpire Gregory Brathwaite while veteran Vincentian umpire Goaland Greaves will perform the Television Umpire duties.

Mohammed, Guillen lead T&T in Super50 final

PROVIDENCE, Guyana, CMC – Half-centuries from Jason Mohammed and Justin Guillen propelled Trinidad & Tobago into the Final of the Regional Super50 tournament, following a four-wicket victory over hosts Guyana on Wednesday.

PROVIDENCE, Guyana, CMC – Guyana won the toss and chose to bat in the first semi-final of the Regional Super50 Tournament against Trinidad & Tobago on Wednesday at the Guyana National Stadium here.

Super50 semis & final live on ESPN

Miami, FL - ESPN Caribbean will telecast LIVE the two semifinal and final matches of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) Regional Super50 2011 on October 26, 27 and 29 from Guyana National Stadium in Providence. Each match will begin at 1:30 p.m. local time.

Special semis for final four

GEORGETOWN, Guyana, CMC – There is something extra-special about reaching the semi-finals of the Regional Super50 tournament for all four teams taking part.

Hosts Guyana face Trinidad & Tobago in the first semi-final on Wednesday under the lights at the Guyana National Stadium, where the second semi-final also takes place under the lights the following day between Jamaica and West Indies High Performance Centre.

Georgetown, Guyana – Hosts Guyana and Sagicor High Performance Centre have booked places in the Regional Super50 semi finals. Guyana beat Barbados convincingly at Blairmont today to top Group A while Sagicor HPC slipped past Windward Islands in a tense match to finish in the number two position in the same group.

Barnwell, Johnson combine to KO Bajans

 

BLAIRMONT, Guyana, CMC – Purposeful medium-fast bowling from Christopher Barnwell followed up a half-century from Leon Johnson to help Guyana reach the semi-finals of the Regional Super50 tournament, formally knocking co-defending champions Barbados out, following a 48-run victory on Sunday.

Rain rules on Day 3 of Super50

GEORGETOWN, Guyana, CMC – Not a ball was bowled in the two Group-A matches on Friday in the Regional Super50 tournament.

This country’s notoriously fickle weather dumped several millimetres of rain on the capital, disrupting the competition and forcing both matches to be abandoned.

Fudadin & Jacobs christen Super Caps

Georgetown, Guyana – When Guyana captain Assad Fudadin and all rounder Steven Jacobs take the field on Friday against Sagicor High Performance Centre their head gear will be distinctly different from the green Guyana cap.

The duo will inaugurate the Super50 Super Caps for being the leading batsman and bowler respectively for Group A.

After the first round matches for Group A, Fudadin has tallied the most runs with his top score of 45 in a low scoring affair against Windwards.

All Bourda matches moved

Georgetown, Guyana – Due to the waterlogged state of the Bourda Cricket Ground outfield the WICB has moved the three remaining matches scheduled for that venue in the ongoing Regional Super50 Tournament.

The changes are as follows:

1. Friday, Oct 21 – Sagicor HPC v Guyana will now be played at Guyana National Stadium

2. Sunday, Oct 23 – Sagicor HPC v Windwards will now be played at Everest

3. Monday October 24 – CCC v Leewards will now be played at Guyana National Stadium.
